Getting a gorgeous color to saturate your room starts with the right materials and of course, the right paint. But don’t forget about what’s underneath. Using primer may seem like just an extra step, but it can do a lot for the finished look of your room.

Primer can help cut down on the number of coats of paint you’ll need, especially if you’re painting on new drywall. Primers promote adhesion and equalize porosity, offering an even, consistently colored surface even before you open up your cans of the finish color.

Using a tinted primer can offer additional advantages on some projects.  It can be a big help if your project involves turning a dark-colored room to a lighter color, or vice-versa.  For most colors, tinting the primer to a slightly lighter shade than the finish coat provides a better chance of reaching full coverage, and it helps you see where you’ve already painted your finish coat and where you still need to paint.

For vibrant colors that may require multiple coats, often using a primer tinted to a radically different color can help achieve the final color in fewer coats. We can guide you in choosing a color of primer that will help your finish paint hide better, reducing the number of coats needed saving you time and money.

Take the time to prime! It will help you achieve a quality paint job for your room.
