Diamond Vogel is seeking a motivated Category Manager I to support purchasing and category management activities within our procurement team. This role plays an important part in ensuring raw materials and supplies are available to support our manufacturing operations while maintaining strong supplier relationships and accurate purchasing data.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and comfortable working with suppliers and internal teams to support production needs, resolve supply issues, and contribute to ongoing cost and sourcing initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Execute daily purchasing activities including creating and managing purchase orders in the ERP/MRP system
- Ensure timely material availability to support production schedules and inventory targets
- Monitor supplier confirmations, lead times, and delivery performance
- Resolve supply issues, shortages, and expediting needs as they arise
- Maintain accurate supplier pricing and purchasing data
- Support inventory accuracy and assist with excess or obsolete material reviews
- Serve as a primary operational contact for assigned suppliers
- Track supplier delivery performance and assist with resolving quality or supply concerns
- Coordinate with internal teams on non-conformances and corrective actions
- Support RFQs, supplier comparisons, and basic spend analysis
- Assist with cost tracking, savings initiatives, and supplier negotiations
- Work with Planning, Operations, R&D, and Quality to support material qualifications and supply planning
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, Chemistry, or a related field
- 0–3 years of experience in purchasing, supply chain, buying, or manufacturing
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP/MRP systems
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving ability
Preferred experience includes exposure to paint, coatings, or chemical manufacturing environments, familiarity with raw materials such as resins, pigments, solvents, additives, or packaging, and APICS, ISM, or similar certifications (or willingness to pursue).
