Diamond Vogel is seeking a Coatings Chemist to join our Research & Development team in Burlington, IA. This position supports existing coating products by providing technical support and developing new products for Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Sales. The Chemist will work hands-on in a laboratory environment while contributing to high-quality products aligned with Diamond Vogel’s standards and values.
Responsibilities
- Prepare liquid coating samples and assist with product development activities
- Perform physical and analytical testing with appropriate supervision
- Accurately record test results, observations, and experimental data
- Communicate findings clearly to R&D team members and cross-functional partners
- Support Manufacturing, QC, Purchasing, and Sales, with technical information
- Follow laboratory safety, quality, and compliance standards
- Maintain laboratory organization and proper handling of materials and equipment
- Learn and apply testing methods, laboratory software, and equipment
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field required; chemistry coursework required
- Laboratory experience preferred but not required; training provided
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and work effectively in a team environment
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Inquisitive mindset with a willingness to learn and take initiative
- Basic computer skills and the ability to learn laboratory and data systems
