Diamond Vogel is seeking a Technical Service / Wood Finishing Technician to support product quality, sales aid production, and customer technical service within our Wood Finishing team. This hands-on role is responsible for applying stains and finishes, building product displays, assisting with product testing, and providing front-line technical support to customers.
The Technical Service / Wood Finishing Technician works closely with the Technical Services Manager to ensure high-quality standards, accurate product performance, and a safe, organized workshop environment.
What you’ll do
- Apply stains and finishes to wood samples, displays, and sales aids
- Build and maintain inventory of fandecks, shelf talkers, and hanging boards
- Cut, assemble, and prepare wood components for product displays
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop environment
- Manage inventory of shop supplies and finishing materials
- Inspect and maintain spray booth filters, respirators, and shop equipment
- Operate spray equipment and woodshop tools including sanders, table saws, HVLP sprayers, Quickshot sprayers, and Air Assist Airless systems
- Assist with Level 1 and Level 2 customer technical calls, including product questions and troubleshooting
- Support product testing for new and existing formulations
- Compare competitive products and evaluate color stability and finish quality
- Participate in computer-based training as part of the Journey to Excellence initiative
- Perform other duties as assigned to support Technical Services operations
What we’re looking for
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Experience in woodworking, finishing, manufacturing, or a related hands-on trade preferred
- Mechanical aptitude and comfort operating shop equipment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship
- Ability to maintain an organized workspace and manage materials effectively
- Strong communication skills and willingness to assist customers
- Ability to work safely in a shop environment and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Basic computer skills; experience with technical documentation or testing is a plus
- Eagerness to learn and grow in a technical, product-focused role
